Industrial Safety Specialist - Analytics

This role supports field safety teams, line management, and organizational safety culture initiatives, serving as a resource for proactive prevention, compliance, and analytics. The position focuses on technical work, program support, and data-driven safety improvements.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related science or engineering discipline
• BS + 3 to 5 years of safety-related experience or MS + 1 year of related experience
• Experience developing KPIs and executive reporting
• Experience in business intelligence software and/or database reporting tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred qualifications:

• CSP, ASP, GSP, or similar certification
• Experience supporting construction, manufacturing, energy, or industrial operations

Responsibilities

• Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work to protect self, others, and the environment
• Develop and maintain organizational safety KPIs and leading indicators
• Identify workplace hazards and develop appropriate hazard controls and mitigation strategies
• Support worker safety and health needs, including injury/event response and case management
• Lead and support company-wide Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) initiatives, activities, and campaigns
• Participate in safety committees and meetings, including the Hanford Traffic Safety Committee
• Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems, and procedures
• Prepare and review technical reports, correspondence, and program compliance documents
• Perform incident/event investigations and prepare associated reports
• Support implementation of new technologies and reporting tools; identify opportunities for automation and digital transformation
• Benchmark organizational performance against industry standards
• Maintain current knowledge of specific government agency requirements
• Perform desk work, including writing and computer tasks, in support of line management safety and health needs
• Review and generate Safety and Health reports, records, etc.
• Develop and manage Safety and Health processes, procedures, training, and metrics
• Perform Safety and Health surveillances and assessments
• Generate records, manage instrumentation and equipment, and perform other industrial safety/hygiene functions
• Oversee and mentor line management and workers on the implementation of industrial safety/hygiene hazard controls
• Respond to events providing injury/illness response, monitoring of conditions, etc.
• Conduct hazard analysis and control determinations in support of project work activities
• Conduct oversight and monitoring during work task performance to verify that exposure control mechanisms are sufficient to protect workers

Schedule

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pay

$89,099.71 - $136,321.63 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.

About the role

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

This position requires:

• Authorization to work and remain in the United States without Amentum visa sponsorship now or in the future
• Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education
• Ability to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site (even if teleworking, must still comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
