About the Role

As a Painter, Powder Coat, or Sandblaster at Cincinnati Fan (part of SPX Technologies' Engineered Air Movement platform), you play a critical role in producing high-quality industrial air movement equipment by preparing, coating, and finishing fabricated metal components. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency help ensure every product meets customer expectations and SPX's high manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Safety & Compliance
    • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental procedures.
    • Properly wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when required.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area using 5S principles.
    • Report equipment concerns, safety hazards, or maintenance needs promptly.
    • Safely operate painting, blasting, and material handling equipment.
  • Surface Preparation & Painting
    • Prepare metal components by cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and sandblasting surfaces prior to coating.
    • Operate industrial spray painting and powder coating equipment to apply coatings evenly and efficiently.
    • Mix paints and coatings according to specifications and manufacturer recommendations.
    • Perform color changes and clean spray equipment between production runs.
    • Load and unload components onto the overhead conveyor system while maintaining proper sequencing.
    • Utilize grinders and hand tools to remove weld spatter, burrs, scratches, and surface imperfections.
  • Production & Quality
    • Read work orders, production schedules, and manufacturing instructions to ensure correct materials, colors, and finishes are applied.
    • Inspect finished components for coating thickness, coverage, adhesion, finish quality, and defects.
    • Monitor coating equipment and identify process issues that could impact quality.
    • Complete production documentation accurately and on time.
    • Perform basic preventive maintenance on painting and blasting equipment.
    • Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality standards.
  • Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
    • Work collaboratively with production, welding, fabrication, and assembly teams.
    • Support teammates and assist in other production areas as business needs require.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
    • Demonstrate accountability through dependable attendance, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
    • Take pride in producing quality products that exceed customer expectations.

What Success Looks Like: Producing consistently high-quality painted and powder coated components, meeting production schedules, working safely every day, maintaining organized work areas, supporting team goals, and demonstrating reliability through strong attendance and work ethic.

Requirements

  • Required Experience
    • One (1) year of manufacturing or industrial production experience.
    • Experience with industrial painting, powder coating, sandblasting, or similar finishing processes.
    • Ability to read work orders and production documentation.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment.
  • Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Industrial spray painting

    • HVLP or conventional spray guns
