Industrial Mechanical Technical Designer III
Position Summary
Clark Nexsen, a JMT Company, seeks an Industrial Mechanical Technical Designer III to apply engineering techniques to design and evaluate integrated systems for industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.
General Responsibilities
Applies statistical methods and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, and production standards
Considers workflow, layout, and safety measures when designing industrial plants and facilities
Drafts and designs layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools and computer
Ensures design meets organizational and production goals
Project Responsibilities
Responsible for document organization and clarity
Responsible for discipline drawing coordination
Develops design options for resolution of system conflicts
Develops proposals and project reports
Maintains project budget and schedule
Coordinates work product with other disciplines
Adheres to project budget and schedule
Required Skills
Performs various design services as an engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mass balance, calculations, equipment selection, instrument selection and general arrangements for bulk material handling, process piping, conveyance equipment detail shop drawings, dust collection, chute fabrication drawings, tank/bin design, and equipment platforms/catwalks with minimal direction from supervising staff.
Coordinating and communicating all aspects of industrial and mechanical design within multi-disciplinary teams as requested by the Design Manager or Project Engineer.
Develops project schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documents
Complies with quality control policies and procedures
Supports services during the bidding process, prepares addenda, amendments, attends pre-bid meetings, opens bids, tabulates bids, technical bid analysis, etc.
Performs construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings, preparing as-builts, etc. as directed
Works with, responds to, and takes direction from senior engineers and project managers

Required Experience
Graduated from an ABET-accredited 4-, 5-, or 6-year engineering program ideally in a field of study related to mechanical engineering.
Utilizes current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, and information management. Working familiarity with design and production software to a point of being able to utilize the software in the development of project documents and interact with other project team members in their use of the software is highly desirable. Specific software includes:
- Microsoft Office
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- BIM
8-12 years of significant design and practice experience with an Industrial firm or multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm
Familiarity with MSHA standards and other related industrial process design parameters is highly desired.
Design or construction experience in Design/Build and EPC project delivery methods is desirable.

Working Conditions
JMT offers a hybrid work schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending and lifting of minimal weight are required. Our office environment is comfortable, has adequate lighting and temperature, and is free from noise, dust, and other hazards. Qualifications
Must have graduated from an ABET-accredited 4-, 5-, or 6-year engineering program ideally in a field of study related to mechanical engineering.
