Industrial Mechanic - Hopewell, VA

About the role

Turner Industries is seeking an Industrial Mechanic for a position in Hopewell, VA. The Mechanic maintains and repairs equipment and other industrial machinery, including but not limited to, conveying systems, production machinery, and packaging equipment. Non-exempt role; Reports to Direct Supervisor / Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.

Essential Qualifications

• High school or equivalent
• Ability to diagnose and repair equipment
• Good communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and work self-directed and alone at times
• Technical training and/or industrial related industrial maintenance experience
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the company Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Functional Requirements

• Keep machinery in working order by detecting and correcting errors before the machine or the products it produces are damaged
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various equipment
• Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts
• Prepares reports documenting work performed
• Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Physical Involvement

• Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level
• Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.
• Reaching in all directions
• Handling and manipulating objects and materials
• Coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment
• Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead
• Carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.
