About the Role
Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for an Industrial Manager to join our team in Kinston, NC. Our facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. We build critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar. On the shop floor you'll be surrounded by individuals who are passionate about aviation and skilled in areas like electrical, structure and quality.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Interact and influence the Operations & Multi Functional team in a composite manufacturing and assembly environment
- Manage integrated Multi Functional Team to deliver priorities and work with functional directors to ensure correct support is in place
- Monitor and analyze the entire industrial flow in a composite manufacturing and assembly environment ensuring all activities are aligned with operational objectives and quality standards
- Actively lead, implement, and continuously improve the routines and standards according to the Airbus Operating System, using data/pareto analysis to address areas of opportunity/greatest importance
- Identify root cause(s) of non quality and eliminate human factor, quality defects that occur in the production/manufacturing/assembly process
- Continuously improve and reinforce a quality culture
- Act as a Focal Point and facilitator for Widebody VSM and central Airbus entities (OM, etc.)
People-Focus
- Contribute to a constant improvement in the working environment for the supplier by ensuring that the production facilities address any improvement opportunities
- Establish expectations for high levels of flexibility and "multiple skill" requirements for the workplace and management
- Lead activities to ensure team members remain motivated and engaged while maintaining a positive team spirit
- Utilise an MFT to improve work flow and enhance existing processes, with particular focus on Delivery & Quality
Productivity
- Ensure delivery of finished product, in-line with agreed Quality gates
- Understand critical path items and any bottlenecks that may be inhibiting our ramp up ability
- Drive actions and improvements to ensure successful completion of Quality Gates
- Ensure Performance Management Center includes PPC, SQCDP boards, OEE Boards, Daily Quality Gate; along with the knowledge transfer and Root Cause Analysis
- Responsible for the development of resource forecast requirements based on line balancing, activity sequencing of PPC, and identifying the necessary skill sets required to achieve committed build
- Responsible for the prevention and elimination of disturbances in the manufacturing process
- Contribute to global ramp up governance and identify key enablers
- Develop dynamic plans to ensure On time and On Quality delivery of finished work packages to internal customers
Qualifications
- Master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or similar required or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of relevant work experience, Industrial Engineering or similar role
- Knowledge of production and quality rules in the aviation industry
- Lean manufacturing methodologies
- Fluency in written and spoken English; preferred fluency in another language (French, German, Spanish) is highly desirable
- Technical proficiency in SAP and Google Workplace
- Communication and teaching skills
- Leadership and ability to convince

Physical Requirements
- Vision: Able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings
- Hearing: Able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms
- Speaking: Able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications
- Equipment Operation: Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts
- Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs
- Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs
- Pushing / Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools
- Sitting: Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer
- Squatting / Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving
- Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor
- Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice
- Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces
- Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by supplier site. Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor
