About the role

The Industrial Maintenance Technician (Millwright) maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and improves equipment and machinery throughout Franklin Industries. This role supports safe and reliable operations by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing equipment failures, completing repairs, fabricating components, and participating in continuous improvement activities. The position works with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and related industrial systems to maximize equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support production objectives.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions; comply with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements; wear required personal protective equipment (PPE); identify and report unsafe conditions and equipment concerns.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and servicing on equipment and machinery; inspect for wear, damage, and abnormal operating conditions; lubricate, adjust, and maintain equipment according to established schedules; complete assigned tasks through the CMMS; assist in developing and improving preventive maintenance procedures.
• Diagnose mechanical equipment failures and operational issues; repair, replace, and adjust machinery components; troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions; restore equipment to safe and reliable operating condition.
• Identify recurring equipment issues and failure patterns; recommend corrective actions to improve equipment performance; support reliability improvement initiatives; assist in reducing downtime through proactive maintenance practices; participate in root cause analysis activities.
• Assemble, install, align, and disassemble industrial machinery and equipment; fabricate parts and components using available tools and equipment; install replacement components and equipment upgrades; assist with machinery relocation and equipment projects; ensure proper alignment and fit of mechanical components.
• Complete maintenance work orders accurately and timely; document repairs, inspections, parts usage, and corrective actions; maintain accurate maintenance records; record equipment condition and maintenance history within the CMMS; support inventory tracking of maintenance parts and materials.
• Communicate equipment concerns and repair status to supervisors and production personnel; coordinate maintenance activities with operations and production teams; assist in training and mentoring less experienced maintenance personnel; support departmental continuous improvement efforts.
• Participate in special projects and equipment upgrades; assist other maintenance personnel as required; perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of verifiable industrial maintenance, millwright, mechanical maintenance, or related experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems; safely use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Trade school diploma, vocational certificate, apprenticeship completion, or related technical training.
• Experience in heavy manufacturing, steel processing, or industrial production environments.
• Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; welding and fabrication experience.
• Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Experience performing precision alignment, installation, and equipment rebuilding.

Physical Demands

• Climb on, off, and around industrial equipment and structures.
• Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, push, and pull.
• Work in elevated locations and confined spaces when required.
• Frequently use hands, wrists, and fingers for tool operation and repetitive tasks.
• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Training and Development

Within 90 days of employment, associates are expected to demonstrate:

• Competency performing assigned preventive maintenance activities.
• Competency troubleshooting and repairing equipment within assigned areas.
• Understanding of Franklin Industries safety requirements.
• Competency using the CMMS system.
• Ability to perform assigned duties independently with minimal supervision.

Pay

Starting pay is typically between $28 - $32/hour, commensurate with experience. Compensation above this range may be considered for extremely skilled and motivated individuals. Overtime is paid at 1.5x pay after 40 hours. New employees are eligible for merit raises and cross-training opportunities after passing their 90-day probationary period.
