About the role

At Pratt, we don’t just offer a job—we offer a long-term career path in a rapidly growing, high-energy manufacturing environment. When you join our team, you get to work alongside industry leaders, sharpen your skills on advanced equipment, and take advantage of clear opportunities for professional advancement. We invest in our people because we know our growth depends on yours.

We are seeking a skilled, safety-focused Industrial Maintenance Technician to play a vital role on our production floor. In this position, you will maintain peak operational efficiency across our heavy industrial machinery—including extrusion lines, paper machines, pneumatic systems, and warehousing equipment.

Responsibilities

As a hands-on technical expert, you’ll tackle complex troubleshooting, manage control logic (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor controls, and safety circuits), drive preventative maintenance strategies, and help mentor the next generation of technicians.

  • Equipment & Systems Maintenance
  • Advanced Electrical & Mechanical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and facility infrastructure issues promptly to minimize downtime across extrusion lines, paper machines, and warehousing equipment.
  • Control Systems Maintenance: Serve as the primary technical support for machine control logic, including hands-on troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, motor controls, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), safety circuits, and relay logic.
  • Mechanical & Pneumatic Systems Care: Maintain heavy industrial equipment, pneumatic control circuits, and web-handling/extrusion machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Preventative & Predictive Maintenance: Execute PM schedules, track failure trends, and recommend adjustments to optimize equipment reliability.

Additionally, you will provide guidance, technical support, and hands-on training to apprentices and maintenance technicians, perform in-depth root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures, and assist engineering and leadership with new equipment installations, upgrades, and plant continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a continuous manufacturing environment (paper machine, extrusion, or heavy machinery experience strongly preferred) and a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Technical Proficiencies:
    • Electrical: Working knowledge of electrical applications ranging from low-voltage DC signals up to 480V 3-phase power.
    • Controls: Proficiency reading, interpreting, and troubleshooting PLC programs, HMIs, and electrical ladder logic.
    • Mechanical & Fluid Power: Strong proficiency with hydraulic pumps/valves, pneumatic circuits, power transmission drives, gearboxes, alignment, and piping systems.
    • Documentation & Fabrication: Skilled in reading schematics, electrical diagrams, mechanical blueprints, and P&IDs.
  • Mindset & Professional Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a systematic, root-cause approach.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and remain calm during production emergencies.
    • Clear communication skills for effective collaboration across shifts and departments.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will have the physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and comfortably stand, sit, kneel, squat, and climb ladders/scaffolding throughout shift.

The work environment will include exposure to dynamic industrial environments—varying temperatures, high noise levels, airborne particles (PPE provided), and elevated work areas. The candidate must be capable of working long shifts (up to 12 hours) including nights, weekends, or overtime as operational needs demand.

Skills

The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and clear communication skills.

  • Preferred Certifications:
    • Trade school degree or completed apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics fields.
    • Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift / Aerial Lift) Operator License.
    • NFPA 70E Arc Flash Safety training.
