About the role

Repair, install, adjust, or maintain industrial fertilizer production and processing machinery or refinery and pipeline distribution systems. May also install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to plans.

Responsibilities

  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
  • Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
  • Record repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Inspect work performed by team members.
  • Evaluate systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
  • Work with the department manager to plan work priorities, obtain necessary supplies, and assess skills needed to complete tasks.
  • Track and log materials, and other resources used for inventory purposes.
  • Ensure maintenance and repair work is completed safely, effectively, and in a timely manner.
  • Assist team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments.
  • Collaborate with team members to discuss upcoming work assignments; delegate assignments based on team members' skills and experience.
  • Document and maintain maintenance logs/requests.
  • Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials, as necessary.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Study blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation of machinery.
  • Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.
  • Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.

Qualifications

  • Experience with production processes, manufacturing equipment, and industrial maintenance mechanics.
  • Background in agriculture and fertilizers is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with electrical work up to 480 V.
  • Experience working with Gas/Air/Electric pumps, irrigation, forklifts, ladders, hoses, farm tractor machinery, sky trek, skyjack, catwalks, general hand tools, agitators, mixers, scales, valves, camlock couplers, y-strainers, sweecos, and decanters.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of the job include bending, sitting, standing, walking, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and driving. Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. Must be able to travel/drive as needed.

Education And/Or Experience

Experience in Instrumentation & Industrial Automation or related field and/or 3 plus years' experience in industrial maintenance related position.
