About the Role
The Maintenance Technician will maintain, service, and repair plant equipment, perform preventive maintenance (PMs), and complete work orders. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager and is based in our Sparta, Michigan location.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and service mechanical equipment, machinery, and components
- Perform skilled repair services of mechanical, electrical, and building systems and equipment
- Conduct periodic inspections to evaluate repair requests
- Identify parts needed for replacement and place orders as necessary
- Supervise installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing of switches, cables, and other equipment to ensure optimum usage and quality
- Ensure compliance with company requirements
- Schedule and coordinate installation support and service operations
- Complete all work in accordance with established safety procedures
- Maintain accountability for food safety, food quality, and regulatory requirements
- Notify management about actual or potential food safety issues
- Adopt and maintain all SQF (Safe Quality Food) requirements for the position
- Work with supervision to resolve food safety and food quality issues within scope of work
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Three years of mechanic experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking abilities
- Excellent time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the food/beverage industry
- Previous experience in manufacturing or production environments
- Ability to direct, coach, and train others
- Consultative, influential, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.
- Frequent: Ability to talk and hear; stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual/electronic tools. Exposure to wet, humid conditions and seasonal temperature fluctuations.
- Occasional: Squatting, kneeling, reaching above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask and perform confined entry using the LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.
