About the role
This role is to provide overarching occupational health and safety expertise through the field of Industrial Hygiene to one of Apex’s most valued clients, a national aerospace manufacturer.
Over the last 2 decades Apex has worked hand and hand with the national aerospace manufacturer helping them achieve their Occupational Health and Safety, Ergonomic and Safety Engineering goals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct workplace / shop floor industrial hygiene exposure assessments
- Data management and tracking through the client’s internal database systems
- Provide deliverables based on the completed assessments
- Implement and execute an agreed-to service plan
- Monitor and report progress on plan completion as directed
- Work with numerous internal and external stakeholders in the interest of achieving desired overall project velocity
- Act as an advisor to the customer on occupational safety and industrial hygiene issues
- Provide input to client relationship managers or business development staff on potential new EHS projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required – preferably, in a science or engineering field
- Minimum 3-7 years of hands-on experience required, working in the occupational safety and industrial hygiene fields
- Examples of desirable (but not required) professional credentials: Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP); Associate Safety Professional (ASP); Certified Safety Professional (CSP); Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Experience in manufacturing-&-assembly industries / heavy industry settings a plus
- Experience in the aerospace and defense or automotive industry a further plus
- Possess knowledge of occupational safety and industrial hygiene technical subject matter and how to apply it in real-life settings
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the occupational safety and industrial hygiene fields
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- A great deal of creativity and self-starter initiative is required
- Experience with data management and report preparation
- Valid driver's license required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Qualifications
- Technical knowledge in Industrial Hygiene (IH), Shop Floor IH Sampling / Monitoring practices & techniques: Chemicals; Noise; Ventilations Systems, Similar Exposure Groups (SEG) monitoring concepts, IH Program Management
- Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the occupational safety and industrial hygiene fields
- Experience in the aerospace and defense or automotive industry a further plus

Pay
Initial role is for 6-months with possible extension based on performance.
Schedule
This role will be a full-time, onsite position. The client has requested 8-hour days, 5 days a week.
