Industrial Hygienist

About the Role

This full-time, non-exempt position within the Industrial Hygiene department focuses on managing and executing Industrial Hygiene projects while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining high levels of team performance and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute Industrial Hygiene projects.
• Identify resources and manage project requirements.
• Provide directions to the team for executing projects.
• Ensure all work complies with regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, PSCAA, L&I) at all times.
• Review and approve all deliverables before passing information to clients.
• Track project-related team hours and expenses to remain within budget.
• Prepare and maintain quality assurance procedures for the department.
• Train and supervise team members for effective collaboration.
• Minimize the company’s exposure and risk on all projects.
• Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
• Maintain regular communication with prospective and existing clients.
• Analyze project profitability, revenue, billing rates, and utilization.
• Understand and use the company’s pricing model and billing procedures.
• Remain at least 80% billable at all times.
• Increase department profitability in revenue by at least 10% annually.
• Prepare project proposals.
• Hold regular safety meetings with the team.
• Communicate relevant project information to the Manager.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Disciplines, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Industry, or Earth Sciences (preferred).
• Three or more years of related field experience, including AHERA Inspections and Mold/Indoor Air Quality Sampling.

Qualifications

• AHERA Building Inspector certification.
• Lead (Pb) in Construction certification.
• Mold in Construction certification.
• 40 Hrs HAZWOPER certification.
• OSHA 510-Safety in Construction certification.
• Healthy Home certification.
• Current knowledge of Industrial Hygiene requirements per EPA, OSHA, PSCAA, and L&I, and workplace safety.
• Experience in Mold sampling/remediation and Indoor Air Quality protocols.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships and work in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Primarily works outside the office, including outdoors in all weather conditions, with varying noise levels, in hazardous conditions, and in contact with hazardous materials and odors.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to carry a 20 ft. ladder and climb ladders without fear of heights.
• Willingness and ability to enter and/or crawl into confined spaces.
• Physically fit and able to pass medical exams and wear respirators.
• Ability to stand for sustained periods, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, reach, and walk without assistance.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to frequently travel to project sites.
• Ability to conduct repetitive motions using hands, wrists, and fingers.
• Ability to talk and hear at normal speaking levels.
• Ability to pick, pinch, and type without assistance.
• Ability to work in proximity to chemicals, noise, high temperatures, and odors.
