Industrial Hygienist

About the role

HF Sinclair in Sinclair, WY is seeking an Industrial Hygienist who conducts public health duties and assignments for the HES Department under minimal supervision. May direct or lead the work of others from time-to-time.

Job Duties

• Identifies, evaluates, measures and controls employee hazards in the refinery
• Updates programs and policies periodically and ensures that there are constant evaluations for areas of improvement and change
• Works with exposure assessment for all employees and contractors
• Prepares entry and hot work permits
• Serves as a radiation safety director, asbestos coordinator, and incident safety officer
• Serves in the respiratory protection program, hearing protection program
• Provides training to new hires

Experience

A minimum of ten years of experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in public health and/or industrial hygiene, or education and/or equivalent experience.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of public health and industrial hygiene
• Ability to effectively communicate with others
• Intermediate reading and writing skills
• Intermediate level mathematical calculations

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Special training in emergency response/Hazmat
• Certification in radiation safety

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Work Conditions

• Office and refinery based with travel up to 25% of the time by land and air required
• Refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, and driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, and exposure to the risk of electrical shock, wet and/or oil contaminated conditions, at both below grade and elevated positions
• Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions
