About the role

Support a multi-year construction project involving significant civil, mechanical, electrical, underground utility, piping, and site infrastructure construction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field industrial hygiene monitoring and sampling in support of construction activities.
  • Conduct exposure monitoring for noise, dust, silica, welding fumes, chemicals, and other occupational health hazards.
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and document industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring equipment.
  • Perform personal and area air sampling and maintain required sampling records and documentation.
  • Support implementation of respiratory protection, hearing conservation, heat stress, and other occupational health programs.
  • Evaluate construction work areas for potential industrial hygiene hazards and recommend appropriate controls.
  • Support monitoring associated with excavation, demolition, welding, cutting, grinding, concrete work, confined spaces, and other construction activities.
  • Assist with selection and verification of engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain industrial hygiene monitoring data, exposure records, equipment calibration records, and associated documentation.
  • Coordinate field activities with Safety, Construction, subcontractors, and project Industrial Hygiene personnel.
  • Support incident investigations, exposure assessments, audits, and regulatory or project reviews as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial hygiene experience in construction, industrial, DOE, nuclear, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience performing industrial hygiene sampling, occupational exposure monitoring, and field assessments.
  • Experience monitoring silica, noise, welding fumes, heat stress, and other construction-related occupational exposures.
  • Experience with industrial hygiene sampling equipment, calibration, and field monitoring techniques.
  • Knowledge of occupational exposure hazards and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to perform personal and area air sampling, noise monitoring, and other occupational exposure assessments.
  • Ability to work in an active construction environment and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Qualifications

  • Experience with respiratory protection programs and respirator fit testing.
  • Experience supporting large-scale construction projects involving excavation, demolition, welding, piping, or heavy civil activities.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant industrial hygiene or occupational safety certifications.
  • Previous Savannah River Site or other DOE site experience.
