Industrial Equipment Technician

About the role

West Fraser is seeking an Industrial Equipment Technician to keep our high-volume wood products manufacturing equipment running safely and reliably. In this on-site mill role, you'll inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on sawmill and material-handling equipment. You'll perform preventive maintenance, support root-cause problem solving, and follow strict safety and environmental standards. Working with a skilled, team-oriented maintenance crew, you'll help minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on sawmill and material-handling equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to scheduled plans
• Support root-cause problem solving for equipment failures and recurring issues
• Follow strict safety and environmental standards at all times
• Collaborate with the maintenance crew to minimize downtime and improve equipment effectiveness

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or mill environment
• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to safety and environmental compliance
• Ability to work on-site in a mill setting
