About the role
This Supervisor position is part of the Operations Management department, focusing on site remediation projects within MER’s four core service lines: Emergency Response, Industrial and Marine Services, Facility Decontamination, and Site Remediation. The role is responsible for the safety, quality, and profitability of all activities on assigned jobs, typically overseeing multiple projects simultaneously. The Supervisor must adhere to and demonstrate the Company Core Values of Integrity, Mutual Respect, Discipline, and Professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary driver of field operations by managing personnel and equipment to meet Company objectives: Quality (Health and Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Professionalism), Customer Satisfaction (Responsiveness, On-Time Arrival, Exceeding Client Expectations), Profitability (Cost Control, Resource Allocation, Efficiency), and Growth (Employee Development).
- Oversee daily activities of assigned jobs through direct report Foremen and other field/support personnel.
- Implement MER Health & Safety Program and site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) on assigned jobs; conduct job safety audits as necessary.
- Review work orders to ensure clarity on client contact, site address, time budget, resource requirements, work plan, site conditions, project specifications, and quality assurance.
- Assist Program Manager in scoping projects or developing operating plans.
- Coordinate and ensure logistical decisions are executed daily to exceed client expectations.
- Ensure all pre-project clearances, notifications, and conditions are met.
- Monitor and report progress of assigned projects through regular communication with field personnel and Operations management.
- Prepare, accumulate, and/or review required project documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, quality, and timeliness.
- Enforce company policies and procedures; provide performance feedback, guidance, and mentoring to field operations employees.
- Maintain close communication with Business Manager, Program Managers, Account Managers, and/or Client Service Representatives regarding scheduling and resource needs.
- Provide backup support to Logistics Manager as needed.
- Participate in Emergency Response teams, ensuring readiness of team members and equipment, and enforce ER policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of Foreman experience.
- CDL, Class A preferred.
- Strong leadership skills, training, and/or experience.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical, and persuasive skills; ability to interact effectively with clients, employees, and management.
- Multi-task oriented with strong supervisory, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand and analyze job costs, profit and loss.
- Ability to read, understand, and implement Work Plans and site Health and Safety Plans.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910, 1915, and 1926 standards, DOT standards, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
- Understanding of equipment capabilities and job requirements.
- Ability to work in hazardous conditions, including lifting or exerting force exceeding 50 lbs.
- Valid licenses in good standing; meet MER and DOT driving requirements to operate company vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to work extended hours and travel overnight as required.

- 29 CFR 1910.120 OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper and 8 Hour Annual Refresher.
- 29 CFR 1910.147 OSHA Confined Space Training.
- 29 CFR 1910.151 OSHA First Aid and CPR Certified.
- 29 CFR 1910.1101 Asbestos Supervisor/Contractor and Annual Refresher (as applicable by field specialty).
- 33 CFR 154.710 USCG Person-In-Charge Training.
- 49 CFR 172.704 DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Training.
- 49 CFR 214.343 FRA Roadway Worker On-track Safety Training.
- Participation in continuing education training courses in occupational safety and environmental regulations as outlined by MER’s employee development program.
