Industrial Engineering Intern II, Summer 2027 - Austin, TX

About the Role

BAE Systems is seeking a motivated Industrial Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to support our Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions group in Austin, TX. Our team is dedicated to analyzing and optimizing complex processes, reducing operational costs, and providing data-driven insights that shape the future of US Defense. In this role, you will integrate with experienced industrial engineers and collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver tangible improvements within a high-stakes production environment. This is an opportunity to apply classroom theory to real-world defense challenges and influence the efficiency of critical national security technology.

Responsibilities

• Participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company.
• Work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects.
• Engage in career development opportunities and network with business leaders and other students in the program.

Requirements

• Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in a business or engineering field.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite tools.
• Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently.
• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Excellent team player who is willing to contribute and learn.

Qualifications

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

• Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management background.
• Strong understanding of core business concepts.
• Experience analyzing and solving technical problems or projects.
• Ability to multi-task and attention to detail / critical thinking.
• Ability to develop and deploy a framework of continuous improvement utilizing lean principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including SharePoint/Power BI.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $45,553 - $63,330. Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, onsite position located at a BAE Systems facility in Austin, TX. Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
