About the role
Southwire provides interns and co-ops with "real world" applications of their academic studies, helpful feedback and coaching, and consideration for employment after graduation. Each student will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of study and be responsible for developing a timeline, progress updates, and final delivery in a senior leadership expo.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, analyze data, and present findings to support engineering projects and process improvements.
- Assist in updating and creating engineering documentation, standard operating procedures, and process flow diagrams.
- Collaborate on continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance safety within manufacturing processes.
- Perform time studies or capacity analyses to support production and process optimization efforts.
- Support internal and external communication efforts related to engineering projects and initiatives.
- Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or other relevant tools.
