Position Overview
As a Industrial Engineer at Burlington Stores, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing operational efficiency and driving productivity improvements, including developing and maintaining accurate engineered standards, defining and upholding "Best Methods" across job functions, and supporting business objectives through needs assessments and project implementations. You'll mentor and guide less experienced team members.
A Day In The Life
- Lead and execute the development and maintenance of accurate and effective engineered standards through time and frequency studies.
- Define and maintain “Best Methods” for all job functions including training of management and hourly workforce on productivity and work methods.
- Support business objectives and expense and throughput improvement initiatives through needs assessment, work methods flow analysis, recommendations and project implementation.
- Use appropriate project management tools to plan, develop, and coordinate the completion of assigned tasks and deliver quantifiable results.
- Test new concepts to improve the flow and setup in the distribution centers.
- Support the design and implementation of material handling equipment incorporated into existing, new and expanded network buildings.
- Support capital projects when required with work sampling, cost justification (Return on Investment), and cost/benefit analysis.
Education
Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
Experience
Experience: 1-5 years in process and material handling system design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction, and project implementation.

- Software & Tools: Proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, SQL querying, BI tools, and Manhattan Associates Supply Chain suite (preferred).
- Industry Knowledge: Distribution center operations, material handling systems, and national logistics networks.
