Industrial Engineer
Responsibilities
- Responsible for evaluating and improving plant performance in the areas of safety, quality, production output and operating cost.
- Conducts research, conducts experiments, gathers data and develops preliminary findings.
- Studies current production facilities and recommends improvements utilizing the Boise Improvement Cycle.
Essential Functions
- Performs in-house engineering feasibility studies, system trials, cost estimates, capital project planning, design, scheduling and installations that optimize new and existing equipment.
- Manages all aspects of capital projects.
- Works closely with plant management and maintenance personnel to correct production issues and ensure operating efficiencies.
- Demonstrates adaptability and openness to change, providing innovative solutions through data-driven analytics.
- Maintains and gains relevant knowledge, keeping abreast of industry standards, best practices, and technological advances to maximize operating efficiency.
- Evaluates and improves plant performance in the areas of safety, quality, production output and operating costs.
- May be responsible for environmental program, permits, audits and administration.
- Provides engineering oversight for development of software programs and functionality.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science is required, preferably in engineering, wood products or business.
- Developmental position designed to provide the individual with the technical aspects of the business or discipline and the environment to exercise the practical application of their education and experience.
- The incumbent will have the opportunity for exposure to various facets of the business and to develop an in-depth understanding of the operations/function at the region or plant level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer degree in Business, Engineering, or Wood Products (Natural Resources) and between 0-4 years of experience in related job function.
- Possesses the ability to understand and apply mathematical calculations and concepts, computer skills in many types of applications, and excellent communication skills.
- Continuous manufacturing operation experience and knowledge of wood products recommended; knowledge of continuous improvement tools, facilitation, troubleshooting and process controls a plus.
Compensation
$52,000-$78,000 per year
