About the Role

This position requires advanced skills to inspect, install, repair, adjust, construct, modify, calibrate, program, and wire all electrical and electronic apparatus, devices, and circuits of any voltages in the plant or assigned area. The role also involves assisting in the design and service of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical, radio-controlled equipment, and integrating, indicating, or graphic electrical, electronic, or mechanical instruments and control equipment. The goal is to ensure all equipment performs safely and meets OEM specifications.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are typical for a manufacturing environment, including exposure to hot or cold temperatures depending on the weather. The environment is greasy, dirty, and noisy. The role involves:

  • Lifting, pulling, and/or pushing materials and products up to 50 pounds
  • Standing and walking considerable distances
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hard hats

Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a good working relationship with operating personnel to maximize equipment reliability and uptime
  • Perform electrical maintenance of machinery and equipment within the facility
  • Analytically troubleshoot and resolve electrical malfunctions to meet OEM specifications
  • Routinely check the performance of electrical equipment and perform assigned preventive maintenance (PMs)
  • Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and process work orders
  • Follow all PPE policies and safety rules
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs)
  • Attend and participate in line-out meetings to communicate daily activities between shift crews
  • Make necessary equipment repairs during the shift to maintain production availability
  • Complete maintenance shift reports and related paperwork
  • Participate in production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers to ensure equipment reliability
  • Perform daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual check sheets as established by the Maintenance Department and OEM suppliers
  • Prepare reports, forms, records, and related paperwork for the assigned area
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, manlifts, and carry decks as required
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

This position has the authority to stop an operation if deemed necessary for imminent safety or potential equipment damage, with notification to the Operations Supervisor for extended interruptions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Electrical certification or technical degree with at least three years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance and repair
  • Ability to read operating and maintenance instructions, procedure/equipment manuals, and electrical schematic drawings
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and communicate effectively with co-workers
  • Manual dexterity for operating machinery
  • Experience running conduit, cable tray, wiring, and performing terminations
  • Above-average knowledge of general manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and preferably exposure to PLC development software, electrical design software, internet software, order processing systems, and project management software
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with PLCs, VFDs, and communication systems
  • Understanding of ladder logic and advanced troubleshooting skills with equipment software language; experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens equipment preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible or rotating schedule, including overtime as needed
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and effectively
  • Spanish as a second language is beneficial but not required
