Industrial Electrician
About the role
Lhoist North America seeks an Electrical and Instrumentation Inspector to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring continuous operation and meeting quality control standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and instrumentation inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment
- Complete and document Workplace Inspections in a timely manner
- Participate in preventive maintenance checks and report findings
- Initiate work orders when required
- Ensure all inventory parts are correctly charged from Stores as per LNA procedures
- Possess a good knowledge of power distribution systems
- Be well versed in the installation, maintenance, and adjustment of transformers
- Perform low voltage and high voltage terminations
- Perform maintenance on switchgear up to 4160 volts
- Have knowledge of low and medium voltage switching applications
- Use Windows OS and Microsoft Office programs
- AutoCAD and SAP experience preferred but not required
- Perform basic electrical calculations
- Use all electrical test equipment (volt meters, meggers, current generators, loop calibrators, etc)
- Perform soldering operations
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair AC/DC motors and drives
- Install and align electrical motors
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain belt-weighing devices
- Maintain and replace process control circuits including control valves, actuators, and positioners
- Use precision measuring tools (multimeters, meggors, 0 to 10 VDC, 4 to 20 mA circuit drivers and testing etc.)
- Complete work orders and checklists including signing and dating
- Troubleshoot and perform repairs to hydraulic/pneumatics systems
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs on Gas Analyzers
- Troubleshoot and modify control loops
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair cameras and monitors
- Travel to other locations within the region (30-50% travel)

- Capable of working any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week, if needed
- Able to multi-task with a strong sense of urgency to meet customer needs
- Works well within a team environment and takes instructions from management and co-workers
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Has basic reading and math skills
- Has good written and verbal communication skills
- Has basic computer skills on how to use MS Office products
- Strong record of attendance reliability
- Knows, understands, and observes all department and plant safety rules and maintains a high level of housekeeping in assigned work areas
- Capable of performing the essential job duties required of this job
Physical Demands
- Physically able to perform work assigned
- Physically capable of accessing all plant locations
- Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels
- Working at times in a covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and lime/mineral particles
- Required to perform the following actions (from time to time): standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting
- Ability to occasionally lift/carry 50 pounds
Required Education
A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Preferred Education
An Associates Degree or Certificate in industrial electrical technology is preferred.
Required Experience
5 to 7 years electrical experience is required.
Preferred Experience
- Previous heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience is highly preferred
- Electrician License
Hourly Rate
$50 for qualified candidates.
