About the role
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to build and wire the industrial control panels and cabinets that run Intramotev's self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles and the test equipment behind them.
Responsibilities
- Panel & Cabinet Build: Assemble control-panel and cabinet backplanes to panel layout and general-arrangement drawings, mounting DIN-rail breakers, ice-cube relays, contactors, motor starters, and terminal blocks per the print.
- Control Wiring: Wire relay-logic, contactor, and motor-starter control circuits to electrical schematics and wire run lists, with crimped ferrules, labeled conductors, and clean wire-duct dress.
- Termination & Dress: Terminate terminal blocks and field connections, route and lace control wiring, and finish each panel to UL 508A-style workmanship standards.
- Continuity & Function Test: Verify finished panels with continuity, point-to-point, and function checks against the print, confirming every circuit matches the schematic before the panel ships.
- Install & Commissioning Support: Provide occasional on-site install, commissioning, and troubleshooting support for fielded panels at customer sites.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with controls and production engineering to provide feedback on panel layout, wire routing, and manufacturability.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of as-built wiring, redlines, and panel modifications.
Requirements
- 3+ years building and wiring industrial control panels and cabinets, or equivalent control-wiring work on vehicles, machinery, or heavy industrial equipment.
- Demonstrated proficiency reading and interpreting electrical schematics, panel layout / general-arrangement drawings, and wire run lists, and building to them.
- Hands-on relay-logic, contactor, and motor-starter control wiring, including terminal-block termination, crimping and ferrules, and clean wire-duct dress.
- Experience with fabrication tools, shop equipment, and electrical diagnostic equipment, including continuity, function, and point-to-point checks against the print.
- Willingness to learn new systems and take on tasks beyond your immediate area of expertise.
- Open-minded and comfortable working as a hands-on individual contributor in a small-team shop environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically on occasion (roughly 10%) for on-site install, commissioning, and troubleshooting support.
- Fluent in both written and verbal English.
- U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).
Qualifications
- A working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:
- Panel build to UL 508A (industrial control panels) or equivalent workmanship standards.
- Motor control experience — 3-phase power, variable frequency drives (VFDs) or soft starters, and motor protection.
- Experience with Electric Vehicle (EV) powertrains or high-voltage battery management systems (BMS) — our railcars are battery-electric vehicles, so EV experience translates directly.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as CAN bus.
- Technical degree or certification in Electrical Systems, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
Benefits
- Medical coverage: We cover 100% of employee medical premiums, plus low-cost dental and vision options.
- Vacation: Hourly employees accrue paid time off and receive paid company holidays.
- Parental leave: New parents receive paid time off to spend quality time with their family.
Pay
Hourly pay: $26–$32 per hour (full-time, non-exempt)
Schedule
This is a full-time, 100% in-office role based in St. Louis, MO. You'll work within a team of 3–10 engineers and technicians and engage in occasional domestic travel (roughly 10%) to support those field activities.
