Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Inspect machines for wear and defects in operation, replace defective parts, and make mechanical/electrical adjustments and repairs to prevent downtime and ensure efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot and perform emergency repairs.
- Update, modify, and/or change equipment as upper management assigns.
- Maintain detailed Preventative Maintenance records.
- Follow the proper procedure for replacement parts as removed from inventory.
- General repairs around the plant as needed and/or assigned by the Supervisor/Manager on duty.
- Explain to workers the proper use and operation of maintenance equipment.
- Work from blueprints, schematics, and ladder diagrams.
- Use test equipment, precision measuring equipment, equipment manuals, service records and preventative maintenance lists.
- Work with service technicians to install and maintain automated equipment.
- Complete work orders and enter your labor time in a timely manner.
- Use proper Lock Out Tag Out and Try Out to ensure zero energy state on all equipment.
- Perform administrative duties when necessary.
- Train new and existing employees on the process of equipment pertaining to Maintenance.
- Understand basic computer skills and be able to use a CMMS system.
- Reset motor overloads.
- Perform shorted motor testing.
- Perform process equipment PMs (Preventive Maintenance).
- Identify faulted drives and replace electrical motors and drives.
- Learn the operational functions of equipment to troubleshoot issues and eliminate deficiencies effectively.
- Cut and weld using oxygen and acetylene, experience with stick and MIG welding machines for fabrication.
- TIG welding experience is a plus.
- Understand Arc Flash safety and the theory associated with it.
- Utilize various types of electrical testing equipment.
- Start up the various pieces of equipment according to the Standard Operating Procedure.
- Troubleshoot various types of drives and motors up to 480V.
- Train new and existing employees on operation of equipment pertaining to Electrician.
- Bend and install various types of conduit as well as pull and terminate various types of wires.
- Perform preventative electrical maintenance.
- Read electrical schematics and drawings to be proficient with making changes using current electrical symbols.
- Work alongside Electrical Engineers in troubleshooting and upgrading electrical systems and resolving equipment issues and plant issues.
- Troubleshoot blown fuses, photo eyes, relays, breakers, etc.
- Perform in a safe manner troubleshoot and/or reset the plant drives and electrical panels.
- Install transformers and install plus program VFD drives.
- Have a full understanding of control voltage and Remote I/O.
- Maintain 5S and cleanliness of work area and equipment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of industrial mechanic experience.
- Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is a plus.
- Experience with VFD (variable frequency drive) is required.
- Electrical repair & troubleshoot plus mechanical repair helper.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret most documents relating to how the process operates.
- Basic tool knowledge and usage based on the job classification/necessity.
- Utilize math in fractions and decimals and know the metric measuring system.
Skills & Equipment Required
- Attend electrical skills training as needed.
- Active Powered Industrial Trucks Certification.
- Proficiently operate (including but not limited to): powered hand tools, precision tools, power tools, machine tools, and electronic/electrical diagnostic equipment.
- Service manuals, Checklists, Tablets and computers, CMMS and other updated systems as implemented.
- Work will be performed under the direction of Maintenance Supervisor/Maintenance Manager/Other members of management.
