Industrial Composite Engineer
About the role
Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking an Industrial Engineer - Composite to support composite production processes and assist in ramping up the A350 rate. The role involves process security and advisory, process improvements, and serving as a focal point for composite ME topics.
Responsibilities
- Advise and support the site for AIRBUS composite processes to comply with AIPI/AIPS and other regulations
- Secure the implementation of AIPI/S in the site
- Give advisory to management for process security
- Secure the exchange with other plants to align and validate processes and share lessons learned
- Support improvement projects to ensure the ramp up of A350 and propose new projects
- Propose new ideas to improve leadtime and cost of composite processes
- Write specifications for composite manufacturing machines and environments with the support of the existing AIRBUS Composite network
- Be the interface between Kinston Composite community and existing AIRBUS composite communities to enable growth
- Process Security and Advisory for Composite Processes: 40%

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 5 years experience with Airbus composite manufacturing, processes, and regulations
- Composite Manufacturing skills
- Composite material knowledge
- ME processes knowledge
- Transnational working experience
Qualifications
- Authorized to work in the US
- Physical Requirements: Onsite or remote 100%, on-site
- Visual Requirements: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings
- Hearing Requirements: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms
- Speech Requirements: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications
- Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts
- Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs
- Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs
- Squatting/Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor
- Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces
- Personal Protective Equipment: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
- Administrative Position Only PPE: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor
