Industrial Architect
About the role
Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking an Industrial Architect to lead industrial performance, utilise existing plant and machinery, identify opportunities to improve and develop industrial systems, demonstrate cutting-edge technologies, and support the performance and ramp-up of Kinston plant programs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the Kinston Industrial System is synchronized to production requirements, identifying and correcting the system as necessary to maintain efficient and effective production processes.
- Analyse plant performance data with a view to identifying improvement opportunities.
- Identify and implement improvements to the Industrial System through continuous improvement techniques.
- Establish and report clear KPI’s to demonstrate performance to both functional leadership and site leadership where appropriate.
- Link with other Airbus plants to ensure best practices are shared.
- Identify and demonstrate cutting edge technologies to support and enhance operational performance and ramp-up of Kinston plant.
- Validate the processes and procedures utilised by the Industrial System in the Kinston plant production.
- Identify improvement opportunities relevant to enhancing Kinston plant Industrial System performance.
- Ensure the interface between the Industrial System and production requirements is efficient and effective.
- Rapidly identify corrective solutions for issues that may occur in production processes and rapidly instigate repairs to minimise delays.
- Define and initiate required change activities, accompanying and enabling the ME-industrial systems and technology deployment, cultivating a regular exchange with all stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with the Technical Shopfloor Support Team to enable delivery of solutions in a timely manner.
- Lead and manage the Technical Specialist teams (Quality, EQN management, DQN management, Process Engineering and Shopfloor Support), ensuring services are provided in an effective and timely manner.
- Liaise with continuous improvement teams and ensure that industrial improvements are rigorously deployed into the operational environment and monitored.
- Setup regular reviews to drive a culture of recognition, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the Airbus systems are deployed across the Kinston plant.
- Provide advice, solutions and leadership to other managers across the organisation.
- Coach and guide all members of the ME team.
- Utilise risk and opportunity management for the identification, anticipation and evaluation of upcoming risks and opportunities.
- Set-up, approve and implement risk mitigation plans.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Promote a customer-focused mindset and act as a change leader within the Manufacturing Engineering organisation.
- Ensure the correct standards are achieved for Aircraft and MOD Configuration for all program variants.
- Respond to and resolve technical queries from various departments and stakeholders.
- Develop and define assembly strategies for aircraft components.
- Specify and validate assembly tools and equipment required to ensure geometric tolerances and process efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years relevant engineering experience within a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
- Strong background in Production Planning systems with a knowledge of SAP principles.
- Strong understanding of metallic and composite manufacturing, assembly techniques and treatment processes.
- Experience in manufacturing or assembly technology implementation.
- Experience of lean manufacturing / continuous improvement environment.
- Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering tool sets (SAP, MES Etc).
- 5% Domestic and International travel.
- Authorised to work in the US.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in an ABET engineering program.
- Preferred: Master's degree in an ABET engineering program.
- Working knowledge and application of Business management systems (BMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Preferred: General knowledge of FAA, EASA and ICAO.
Skills
- Strong background in Production Planning systems with a knowledge of SAP principles.
- Strong understanding of metallic and composite manufacturing, assembly techniques and treatment processes.
- Experience in manufacturing or assembly technology implementation.
- Experience of lean manufacturing / continuous improvement environment.
- Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering tool sets (SAP, MES Etc).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and manage teams.
- Knowledge of risk management and opportunity identification.

Pay
Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
