FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Employment Status: Full time, 9-month contract

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
  • Experience working with Pre-K through 5th grade students preferred
  • Experience facilitating cultural activities or programs is a plus
  • Native American background and/or tribal affiliation preferred
  • Tribal language experience preferred

About the Role

The Indian Education Cultural Technician supports the Indian Education Program by facilitating culturally relevant services and activities for students. This position promotes cultural awareness, reinforces cultural learning objectives, and serves as a liaison between the program, students, and school sites.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a cultural support liaison for the Indian Education Program
  • Travel to assigned school sites to facilitate approved cultural activities
  • Deliver group cultural lessons aligned with program and district standards
  • Reinforce cultural instruction with small and large student groups
  • Coordinate schedules and logistics with site staff and administrators
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, student participation, and program data
  • Manage and track inventory of program materials and supplies
  • Ensure all activities comply with district policies, safety procedures, and state regulations
  • Report student discipline or crisis concerns to appropriate personnel
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and program events
  • Maintain reliable transportation for travel between sites
  • Adhere to assigned work schedules and duty expectations

Attendance

Maintain a minimum of 95% attendance for all assigned duties and responsibilities.

Environmental Conditions

  • Primarily indoor work environment within school settings
  • Occasional outdoor duties in varying weather conditions
  • Potential exposure to allergens, bodily fluids, and student behavioral challenges

Physical Standards

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Frequent communication in person and via phone
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to travel between assigned sites
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed
  • Sufficient vision, including color differentiation, for job duties
