Independent Living Skills Trainer
Job Description
The Independent Living Skills Trainer (ILST) position is available within an organization that supports adults with traumatic brain injuries and other physical or neurological impairments. The ILST services include the assessment, training, and supervision of individuals facing challenges related to daily living activities. This encompasses both basic daily tasks, such as meal preparation and budgeting, as well as instrumental living skills, like medication management.
Experience
The minimum requirement is an associate degree with 5 years experience. Department of Health outlines the experience as:
- Assessing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL).
- Developing comprehensive service plans and instructing individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury, disabilities, and seniors to enhance their functional independence.
Education
Dependent on current Department of Health Qualifications. The minimum requirement is an associate degree.
Salary
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Work Location
In-Person. Participant's home and in the community (serving clients in Nassau and Suffolk counties)
Travel Required
Driver's License (Required)
Schedule
Flexible, make your own schedule: Day shift, Evening shift, Monday through Saturday availability, Weekends if needed
