About the role

The Inclusion Specialist promotes inclusive practices for children with disabilities in Early Head Start and Head Start programs, ensuring meaningful participation in classroom and home-based settings. Responsibilities

  • Conduct observations and inclusion assessments in classroom and home-based environments
  • Provide individualized coaching, consultation, and modeling to support inclusive practices
  • Guide staff on environmental modifications, accommodations, and embedded learning opportunities
  • Collaborate with families, staff, and service providers to develop inclusion support plans
  • Create individualized goals and strategies that support participation in daily routines
  • Design and deliver targeted training on inclusion and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Provide follow-up support to strengthen staff implementation and effectiveness

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field
  • Master's degree in early childhood education or related field preferred
  • 5 years of experience working with children with disabilities, birth to 5, in a home-based and/or classroom-based setting
  • 2 years of experience with assessment, coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance in implementing inclusive practices with program staff and service providers

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
  • Sensitivity to cultural and linguistic diversity

Skills

  • Knowledge of early childhood development
  • Experience with assessment and coaching
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Understanding of disability inclusion and accommodations
