Function
The Inclusion Aide works as a paraprofessional with one or more multiple handicapped students, assisting the classroom teacher in leading each student toward fulfillment of his/her potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a care giving capacity.
- Familiarity with the needs of medically fragile persons.
- Course work and/or knowledge of basic education theory and methodology.
- Facility with deaf/blind interpretive techniques.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
General Responsibilities
- Adapt/interpret regular classroom instruction and activities as prescribed in each student's Individualized Education Plan.
- Work as a "team player" with parents, teachers, therapists, and others in delivering an educational program appropriate to each child.
- Attend to students' personal care needs, i.e., diapering, feeding, transporting, etc. as necessary.
- Assist with reports, records, identification and acquisition of instructional materials.
- Participate in staff meetings; establish cooperative relationships.
- Evaluate student progress; recommend areas of program improvement.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Related Physical Demands
- Stooping, bending, lifting, etc., as necessary to maneuver, direct and/or gain the attention of a disabled child, or utilize any supportive equipment required in his or her care.
- Standing or sitting for extended periods of time as appropriate to an individualized program of instruction.
Pay
Starting at $17.04 per hour
Schedule
20-25 Hours a Week, Mon-Thurs (some Fridays)
