In-Store Shopper (Online Orders) - Part Time
Support an exceptional customer experience by preparing customer orders for delivery and pickup. Shoppers prepare orders for everyday goods including produce, meat, dairy, household items, prepared foods, specialty cheeses, wine, and beer.
About the role
As an In-Store Shopper, you’ll work on the Customer Service & E-Commerce teams supporting and preparing customer orders for delivery and/or pickup. You’ll shop throughout the store for everyday goods including produce, meat, dairy, household items, prepared foods, specialty cheeses, wine, beer, and more. Schedule flexibility is key to meeting our customers’ needs, especially on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), our busiest times. Shifts average 4-8 hours and are issued 14 days in advance.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill online orders efficiently, accurately, and with a sense of urgency using handheld technology and/or fixed devices
- Ensure product and order accuracy through meticulous verification and quality control processes
- Learn and apply product knowledge, customer service standards, and store operations to deliver exceptional customer experiences
- Keep staging area organized and free of clutter
- Handle in-store and online order returns and pickups
- Comply with government regulations such as age verification requirements for restricted items
- Assist with customer inquiries and provide store information
- Maintain knowledge of product and promotional events
- Maintain a positive work environment
- Communicate clearly, collaboratively, and courteously
- Attend all meetings assigned by Leadership, including daily huddles
- Support company programs and initiatives, including varied checkout options, store formats, and all product assortment, tools, and technology
- Maintain operational standards including safety and store security protocols
- Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by store or company leadership
Requirements
- Strong customer service, hospitality, and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with multi-tasking capabilities
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Adaptability to work in high demand / peak hours (November through January)
- Willingness and ability to cross-train to support other teams and tasks
- Adaptability to learn new technology-driven solutions
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment
- Clear communication and team collaboration skills
- Sufficient English language proficiency to prepare and shop customer orders
- Must be 18+ years old
Qualifications
- No prior retail experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Physical Requirements
- Stand/walk for 4-8 hours per shift
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Work in various temperature environments (freezer to 90°F)
- Perform tasks in outdoor and indoor environments
- Perform repeated motions: bending, reaching, grasping, twisting, squatting
- Operate standard retail equipment safely
- Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
- May require use of ladders and other E-Commerce equipment
Pay
The wage range for this position is $17.00–$25.40 hourly.

Eligibility is determined by the terms of the applicable Whole Benefits plan at the date of hire and may vary based on work location, length of service, and job type. New entry-level Team Members who successfully complete their first 90 days of employment and remain actively employed in an eligible role may be eligible for a base rate increase after their 90-day anniversary.
