About the role

This position provides course instruction ensuring student comprehension, retention of knowledge, and positive student engagement. Responsibilities include adhering to established syllabi, syllabi, and guidelines, submitting course syllabi and outlines for approval, attending departmental meetings, and participating in student learning outcomes assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Holds classes for all scheduled times, including the last scheduled class, adhering to and meeting all established college teaching policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Adheres to course delivery requirements outlined in the official course description, master course syllabi/outline, class syllabi, and lab schedules as applicable.
  • Serves on search committees as determined by the School Dean, Dean of e-Learning, or Vice President.
  • Makes recommendations to the School Dean regarding the selection of textbooks or other required texts relevant to the adjunct faculty member’s academic discipline and teaching assignment.
  • Grades student assignments and exams within 5 days, submits final grades no later than 48 hours after the conclusion of their last day of class, and remains available to students during the week following the posting of final grades as mutually determined by the School Dean and the adjunct faculty member.
  • Participates in student learning outcomes assessment related to the adjunct’s teaching assignment as directed by the School Dean.
  • Prepares and maintains Canvas shells for assigned classes, including recording student attendance, posting assignment grades and exam grades, and communicating electronically to students.
  • Completes related projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: One of the following:
    • A Master's Degree in the discipline.
    • A Master's Degree in a different discipline with at least 18 graduate credits in the discipline.
    • A Master's Degree in a different discipline, plus at least two years of directly related professional field experience and/or certification/licensure in the field of specialization.
    • A Bachelor's Degree in the discipline, plus at least five years of directly related professional field experience and certification or licensure in the field.
  • Prior experience teaching at the high school or college level; or experience as a trainer or in conducting group presentations.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Recent technology experience as required of the position.
  • Prior exposure to online course study or a Learning Management System (LMS).

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's or higher Degree in Accounting.
  • Education: Master's or higher Degree in a different discipline with at least 18 graduate credits in Accounting.
  • Education: Master's or higher Degree in a different discipline with two years of professional related experience in the Accounting field.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree AND at least 5 years of directly related professional field experience in the Accounting field.
  • Education: None of the above.
