About the role
As a Visiting Angels In-Home Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you'll enrich the quality of life for clients and support their wellness according to custom care plans. This can include:
- Assisting clients with light physical exercise or walks
- Planning and preparing meals with clients
- Handling light housekeeping duties
- Reporting health changes or unusual incidents
- Providing pleasant, supportive companionship
- Responding quickly and responsibly in emergencies
- Accompanying and supervising clients during shopping trips
- Reminding clients to take prescription medications appropriately
- Providing assistance with mobility and ambulation both at home and during appointments/errands
Visiting Angels offers advanced training opportunities in areas like dementia care and Alzheimer’s care for caregivers looking to broaden their skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Training in First Aid and emergency response (provided if needed)
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to juggle multiple duties
- Reliable transportation to travel to and from client homes as scheduled
- Physical endurance for tasks like carrying groceries and supporting clients
- Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to dietary constraints
- Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards (e.g., background check)
- Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten clients’ days
