In Home Caregiver - Housekeeper

About the Role

Visiting Angels’ Cedar Rapids office is seeking compassionate individuals to provide in-home care and housekeeping services to senior adults and those in need. This role is an opportunity to give back to the community while broadening your skills and supporting families in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, North Liberty, Tiffin, Swisher, Western, and surrounding areas.

As an In-Home Caregiver - Housekeeper, you will assist clients with a wide range of responsibilities, from light housekeeping and meal preparation to mobility assistance and transportation. This position also offers opportunities for personal growth, including advanced training in dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (e.g., doctor’s appointments, walks)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from clients (when able)
• Perform grocery shopping or accompany clients when they shop
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Requirements

• Passion to serve others—a true caregiver
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards

• Good time management skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong ethics
• Physical endurance
• High school diploma or equivalent
