In-Home Attendant

Full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday plus every other weekend (one weekday off when working the weekend).

About the role

The In-Home Attendant is responsible for providing various care services necessary for attending to the personal needs, support, and health status of participants.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance to maintain participants' independence in activities of daily living, including toileting, showers, eating, and grooming.
• Assist in the maintenance of physical activity, exercise, and walking.
• Provide nursing care as assigned, consistent with center policies and procedures.
• Ensure participant safety by identifying hazards and emergency situations, and initiating corrective action as able.
• Provide behavioral supervision or support, such as reality orientation, reminders for nursing/medication instructions, diet restrictions, and emotional reassurance.
• Assist with general activities including conversing with participants, recreation activities, meal and snack serving, and housekeeping.
• Identify and report signs and symptoms indicating physical, emotional, or behavioral changes in participants (e.g., skin integrity, bowel/bladder status, food/fluid intake, ambulation).
• Ensure compliance with infection control, personal protection equipment, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous material handling, and fire safety standards.
• Escort participants to medical, dental, optometry, rehabilitation, and other appointments as necessary.
• Assist transportation staff with loading and unloading participants from vehicles and provide support during transport.
• Attend staff meetings and participant care planning regularly.
• Maintain current written records of services provided, reassessments, and participants' expressed wishes.
• Prepare and submit timely written reports as required.
• Participate in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all participant information.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active certified nurse assistant in the state where the PACE Organization is located preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population, or receive appropriate training upon hiring if less than one year of experience.
• Experience in a long-term care facility or with a community-based geriatric program preferred.
• Own insured vehicle for transportation.

• Physical mobility, including movement from place to place, frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, sitting, walking, and bending.
• Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Physical agility, including maneuvering body while in place.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers.
• Coordination, including eye-hand and hand-foot.

Pay

$17.11–$20.10 per hour.
