Immunologist

About the Role

Axle, a bioscience and information technology company, is seeking an Immunologist to join our team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), supporting the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Bethesda, MD. We specialize in translational research, biomedical informatics, and data science applications, working with top research organizations nationally and abroad.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific staffing support for the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) at NIAID.
• Assist with financial management, including DIR budget allocations, planning, reviews, initiatives, and program changes.
• Contribute to the development of resource packages for new Principal Investigators (PIs).
• Collaborate on translational research projects, including the production of a Clinical Lot for vaccine candidates and nonhuman primate studies.
• Advise PIs and Laboratory Chiefs (LCs) on biosafety and biosecurity for DIR campuses, including high containment (BSL-3, ABSL-3) and maximum containment (BSL-4, ABSL-4) facilities.
• Design and perform original immunological research.
• Assist with resource management changes via the DIR LiveLink/Resource Tracking system and coordinate space allocations for new projects or renovations.
• Evaluate, test, and implement new processes, methodologies, and tools for complex immunological testing and research.
• Provide recommendations for NIAID DIR facilities and research operations.
• Maintain an updated database of space quantity, type, and usage for DIR laboratories.
• Document research findings and maintain accurate logs and records of experimental activities and outcomes.
• Provide vaccine development and other research support functions.
• Offer subject matter expertise to senior scientists and program executives.
• Assist with intellectual property, technology transfer, and licensing issues for vaccine development.
• Prepare results of experimental findings for presentation and publication.
• Perform regular site visits to NIAID facilities in Rockville, MD; Frederick, MD; and Hamilton, Montana.
• Assist in DIR Office of the Director (OD) strategic planning, assessment of new scientific initiatives, and resource allocation advice.

Qualifications

• MBA degree is required.
• Field of Study: Health and Medical Administrative Services.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• 5 years of experience is required.

Pay

Salary Range: $115,000 USD - $120,000 USD. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
