About the Role
YMCA Community Impact Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston focused on meeting the needs of Houston’s vulnerable communities. We provide comprehensive programs that build human assets and foster self-sufficiency. This full-time case manager role supports survivors of crime with legal services, including VAWA, U visas, and T visas. Target populations include victims of violent crime, domestic abuse, and human trafficking. The role may also involve outreach, education, and support responsibilities.
Applicant must be fluent in English and Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and intake interviews with clients.
- Assist in completing USCIS applications under attorney supervision.
- Direct and assist clients in acquiring social services and benefits.
- Maintain contact with clients to encourage consistency and motivation.
- Update clients on their case status and follow up on case outcomes.
- Complete applications for Crime Victim Compensation and Address Confidentiality.
- Coordinate client services with immigration attorneys, other staff, and legal interns.
- Organize and maintain client files and data for reporting.
- Participate in regular peer and supervisor review meetings and trainings.
- Contribute to grant proposals, reports, and periodic communications pieces.
- Participate in outreach activities and information sessions for immigrants and social service agencies (may require occasional evening and weekend events).
- Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
- Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance.
- Perform all other duties as needed and/or as directed by Supervisor.
Outcomes
- Provide legal and support services to 100+ clients in transactional matters per year.
- Ensure contract compliance by completing program/reporting requirements timely and accurately.
- Maintain reporting documentation in each applicant’s file.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including proficiency in Excel.
- Previous experience in case management or social services preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time and resources.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Team player; highly self-motivated, responsive, and a good trouble-shooter.
- Commitment to serving immigrants and sensitivity to the needs of low-income, culturally diverse clients.
- Texas Driver License; clean driving record; own vehicle; applicable auto insurance.
