About the role
Cashier 1 operates a cash register to itemize and total customers' purchases in various retail items including gas, deli, grocery, beer, liquor, tobacco, lottery, scratch offs, money orders, Western Union, cat scale, or other retail items.
Responsibilities
- Collect cash, check, or charge payment from customers, make change for cash transactions
- Counts money in cash drawer at beginning and end of work shift to ensure money balances with sales
- Records daily transaction amounts from cash register to balance drawer
- Bags merchandise, issues receipts, and redeems promotional coupons
- Reviews price sheets to note price accuracy and changes on gas, deli, beer, liquor, or tobacco and all sale items
- Records prices and departments in an accurate manner on the register to ensure taxable items and totals are correct
- Stocks and cleans shelves, and marks prices on items
- Uses the register to swipe all identification to sell tobacco, beer, liquor, and lottery tickets to ensure legal age to purchase
- Promotes and ensures customer satisfaction on all purchases
- Greet all customers as they enter the store

Qualifications

- Mental Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

- Computer Skills - Ability to use cash register, 10-key calculator, count money
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk to hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Alcohol Beverage ordinance Card (by Parish)
- Louisiana Responsible Vendors Permit
- Valid State Identification card or driver’s license
- Copy of Social Security Card
