Responsibilities

  • Administer and oversee EL program compliance to meet all federal, state, and network requirements for multilingual learners.
  • Ensure sheltered instruction (including appropriate accommodations) is provided in all learning settings.
  • Serve as the school’s Screener, ACCESS, and Lexile/Quantile Test Coordinator for multilingual (ML) students.
  • Maintain ML physical and digital records.
  • Progress monitor ML student academic and promotion data.
  • Teach ESL or Sheltered Instruction Content courses and support content-aligned language development for ML students.
  • Support a caseload of ML students through direct instruction and schoolwide integration of ML instructional practices.
  • Design lessons aligned to grade-level standards and student language proficiency data.
  • Collaborate with content teachers to embed language development strategies and modifications into general education instruction.
  • Build staff knowledge and skills to support ML students across all classrooms.
  • Manage Language Specialists (ESL Teachers) to meet key job responsibilities.
  • Teach and advise an advisory, typically meeting daily, serving as the primary point of contact for families. Advisory provides time for students to assess progress toward promotion, foster relationships, and build community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required).
  • Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Active Illinois Teaching License (PEL) with an ESL endorsement.

Pay

Compensation range is $60,000–$81,000.
