Schedule

Teacher hours may vary slightly by school. Occasional meetings or events may extend beyond these hours.

• K-8 Staff: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
• K-8 Students: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Wednesday dismissal at 1:30 PM)
• High School Staff: 6:45 AM – 3:45 PM
• High School Students: 7:15 AM – 2:30 PM (Wednesday dismissal at 12:30 PM)

Every Wednesday is an early release day for students, allowing teachers to participate in professional development and content team meetings. *Wellness Wednesdays allow all staff to leave at student dismissal.

About the Role

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks Learning Specialists (LS) for the 2026-27 school year. The LS ensures compliance with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), teaches small groups, provides support in general education settings, and collaborates with families on the special education process. Responsibilities include:

• Working with multiple grade levels and facilitating the RtI process.
• Leading IEP meetings and ensuring student IEP goals are met.
• Creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, and collaborating with teams.
• Building relationships with families and performing other duties as assigned by the School Principal.

Service Delivery & Instructional Support

At the high school level, Learning Specialists support students through multiple service models based on needs and caseload:

• Push-In Support: Co-teach general education classrooms to provide accommodations, differentiation, and academic support aligned to IEP goals.
• Pull-Out Support: Provide small-group instruction in a resource setting for targeted intervention and skill development.
• Learning Strategies Course: Teach a scheduled class focused on IEP goal progress, academic skills, and postsecondary readiness.

Learning Specialists may serve in one or a combination of these roles.

Pay

Starting salary for a first-year Learning Specialist is $50,000. Additional stipends may apply, including:

• Historical average of $11,000 for certified New-to-KIPP instructional staff (millage and TSIA stipends).
• Other instructional stipends (eligibility requires FLDOE certification).

Stipend offerings are subject to change each school year and will be outlined in the offer letter.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or eligibility for certification (ESE K-12).
• At least one year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement.
• Commitment to racial and educational equity for all children.
• Passing a background check (including Florida House Bill 531 screening through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse).

Qualifications

Highly preferred qualifications include:

• Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress).
• Additional certifications in K-6 or other supported subject areas.
• Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement.
