This is an open-pooled position. Applicants' education/experience will be considered and the position may be filled at a lower or higher level, as appropriate.

Work schedule

  • Sunday - Tuesday - Wednesday 7pm to 7am

Responsibilities

The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities in any combination of which MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray are the primary modality. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multi-modality Technologist I must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multi-modality Technologist I will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications for IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST I:
    • Education & Experience: Associates of Applied Science OR Graduate of an accredited Radiology program. Enrolled in or have completed second Imaging Modality program.
    • Licenses, Registrations or Certifications: Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable. Registry in a second modality must be completed within 18 months of hire or transfer date. American Heart Association BLS.
  • Preferred Qualifications for IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST I: Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred Three - six months experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality.
  • Minimum Qualifications for IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST II:
    • Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED Three (3) Years’ Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality One (1) Year Experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality.
    • Licenses, Registrations or Certifications: Two (2) Certifications from one or more of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable. American Heart Association BLS.
  • Preferred Qualifications for IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST II: Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred Experience and/or Registry in Computed Tomography (CT).

  • Licenses, Registrations or Certifications: Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). Skills

  • Strong communication skills to explain procedures to patients.
  • Ability to perform imaging procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist.
  • Knowledge of established protocols for imaging procedures.
  • Ability to provide care to patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules and locations.
