About the role

The Imaging Technical Assistant provides scheduling services and exam instructions for patients and physician offices. Maintains patient flow in a productive, organized, and timely manner. Assures accurate clerical documentation of patient information and exam data. Provides safe and comfortable transportation for patients of all ages. Communicates effectively with patients internally and externally, consistent with age and mental capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable).
  • Ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients.
  • Transports and prepares patients while maintaining comfort, dignity, and changing medical needs.
  • Keeps patient history current by accurate data entry of exams and other patient history as defined by protocol manual and ongoing software training.
  • Schedules and coordinates all events surrounding the successful completion of a patient exam.
  • Coordinates inpatient imaging services with the imaging modality.
  • Prepares the next day’s schedule to ensure patients are screened and prepped for exams.
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment and supplies to support CT technologists in performing their jobs efficiently and safely.
  • Responds to patient care according to medical center policies, including Code Blue Preparedness, Universal Precautions, Radiation Safety Support, and CPR.
  • Monitors multi-modality worklist and coordinates on-call teams for after-hours exams.
  • Covers other positions within medical imaging areas as appropriate, including modality assistance, file room responsibilities, and Radiologist liaison.
  • Demonstrates ability to efficiently organize work and maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity.
  • Exercises leadership, independent problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Vocational/technical-related college courses are preferred.
  • At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS.)
  • Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
  • A minimum of one year of patient care experience, or acceptance into a Radiology Program, or experience in a customer-related field is required.
