Patient Care & Support
- Absorb and communicate clear instructions from technologists or radiologists regarding patient care and procedures.
- Ensure patient dignity, comfort, and safety during all interactions.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families about procedures, delays, and expectations to minimize anxiety and improve cooperation.
- Verify patient identity using standard protocols (name, DOB, MRN).
- Confirm the ordered exam with the patient.
- Assist with exam preparation, including positioning and assisting with transfers.
- Perform delegated clinical tasks, such as venipuncture, IV start/discontinuation, point-of-care testing (POCT), MRI screening, and completing required forms.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
- Report any safety concerns, near misses, or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
Workflow & Clinical Operations
- Assist with patient transport and flow throughout the department.
- Prepare exam rooms and equipment for procedures.
- Obtain and review relevant patient information, such as history, labs, allergies, prior imaging, and implants.
- Accurately document patient data in systems like PACS, RIS, and electronic health records.
- Ensure specimens are properly labeled and delivered to the laboratory (if applicable).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to MRI safety and/or radiation safety standards as applicable.
- Report any safety concerns, near misses, or incidents per organizational policy.
Professional Development
- Participate in required training, including MRI and/or radiation safety, Basic Life Support (BLS), and annual mandatory education.
- Engage in ongoing learning to maintain and enhance skills.
