Imaging Student Extern

Description

The Imaging Student Extern will screen, position, and image patients under the supervision of a Radiology Technologist. They will work closely with the Radiology Team Leader and Radiologist to produce diagnostic images. Upon successful completion of the Radiologic Technology program, they must pass the ARRT (R) certification within six months.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of the first year of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program and currently enrolled in the second year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Passes the ARRT (R) certification within six months.
• May only remain active in this role for 18 months after completing the program.

• Reviews studies in PACS according to workflow specifications.
• Participates in student education and meets program requirements.
• Demonstrates self-directed learning.

• Provides quality patient care by considering age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs.
• Assists in resolving safety, sanitation, and maintenance issues.
