About the role
This position is designed for 2nd year Radiography students who are currently enrolled in an accredited school of radiologic technology and have met and been signed off for meeting the required competencies. New graduates or ARRT registered candidates cannot be considered for this position.
Responsibilities
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Radiography Program with at least 6 months completed.
- Show documentation of passing basic competency check off exams.
- Operate and perform basic computer programs associated with documentation and record keeping in the department.
- Provides direct patient care and demonstrates competencies specific to the population served.
- Operates and performs routine radiology examinations as well as more advanced diagnostic procedures.
- Assists physicians in administering prescribed radiolucent or radiopaque media for examinations.
- Maintains cleanliness of procedure rooms and equipment.
- Maintains accurate documentation of patient and file information.
- Maintains appropriate supply level in their areas of responsibility.

- Must demonstrate leadership and organization skills including the ability to work independently and take initiative within established procedures.

Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Radiography Program with at least 6 months completed.
- Show documentation of passing basic competency check off exams.
- BLS certification required.
Skills
- Excellent human relation skills to deal with patients, physicians and other in sometimes difficult or sensitive situation, including verbal and written communication, problem solving and assertiveness.
- Operates and performs basic computer programs associated with documentation and record keeping in the department.
- Operates various a variety of diagnostic radiographic equipment to provide optimal Diagnostic Radiology examinations in accordance with physician orders.
- Consults Radiologist as to clarify orders or to discuss unusual situations.
- Performs first aid as required and assists in cases of adverse reaction to contrast media or in other emergencies.
- Maintains cleanliness of procedure rooms and equipment.
- Maintains accurate documentation of patient and file information.
- Maintains appropriate supply level in their areas of responsibility.
