About the role

Provides patient care and clerical services for the Medical Imaging department. Requires provision of minimal patient care and observation by monitoring patient holding areas to ensure patient safety and needs. Assists to retrieve, manipulate and distribute images from the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for all customers. Provides processing, importing and CD burning for patient care needs. Performs additional department tasks and duties as required or needed. Able to work as a tech assistant in different modalities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide minimal patient care and observation in patient holding areas to ensure safety and address needs
  • Retrieve, manipulate, and distribute images from the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
  • Process, import, and burn CDs for patient care needs
  • Perform additional department tasks and duties as required
  • Work as a tech assistant in different modalities as needed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (computer keyboard knowledge preferred)
  • Medical Terminology (preferred or completed on the job)
  • Previous hospital and/or health care experience preferred (telecommunication skills or medical office experience)
  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) required (must obtain prior to completion of orientation)

Qualifications

  • Competent to effectively interact and communicate with patients of all age groups (infant, toddler, adolescent, adult, and geriatric)
  • Effectively interact and communicate with physicians and other health care professionals
  • Proficiency in Windows-based PC environment
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and any shift

Skills

  • Medical Terminology (required or completed on the job)
  • Ability to recognize patient needs and notify appropriate personnel
