This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.
Schedule
- Variable shift start and end times
- 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
- Primarily every other weekend night shift (Friday–Saturday)
- On-call not required
Hourly pay range: $27.660 – $31.840 – $35.660
Responsibilities
- Assist with Imaging Center procedures, including transporting and monitoring patients to, from, and during procedures
- Process radiographic film using proper safelight technique
- Print images and make duplicates of films and/or digital images
- Display images on alternators for radiologist interpretation using proper anatomical orientation
- Combine completed procedures with patient’s Imaging jacket, ensuring accuracy in name and medical record number
- Scan patient documents into Synapse with correct patient identification
- Greet and escort patients to Imaging Center rooms, securing valuables
- Assist in transferring patients before and after procedures
- Observe patients during procedures to maintain safety, documenting and communicating changes to nursing/Imaging staff
- Transfer specimens with proper identification and safety precautions
- Provide technical assistance by developing radiographs/images and assisting with patient movement during procedures
- Communicate patient status with nursing and Imaging staff, including isolation and safety precautions
- Obtain and relay Clinicomp Transport Forms to maintain workflow
- Document and report equipment malfunctions
- Participate in department meetings and focus groups
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, physicians, coworkers, and supervisors
- Transport patients safely, using appropriate modes based on physical limitations and procedure requirements
- Introduce self and purpose to patients using the AIDET tool (Acknowledge, Introduce, Describe, Estimate time, Thank)
- Verify patient identification and notify nursing staff of departures
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and comfort during transportation
- Perform general clerical duties, including IDXRAD tracking, downtime logs, and report delivery
- Assist in Film Library with correlating patient jackets and comparison films
- Use Quick Report for faxing and CareCast/OCM for order entry
- Support teamwork by assisting coworkers, maintaining a safe work environment, and troubleshooting problems
- Demonstrate time management by effectively utilizing work time, cross-covering areas, and completing additional tasks/projects
Requirements
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent – Preferred
- 1 year of experience with patient care – Preferred
Skills
- Knowledge of body mechanics for safe patient and self-transfer – Preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and supervisors
- Active listening and nontechnical communication skills
- Proficiency in IDXRAD, Quick Report, CareCast, and OCM systems
- Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and constructive feedback
- Initiative and time management to prioritize workload and assist in other areas
