About the role
This opportunity is for a talented illustrator to bring a heartfelt children’s picture book to life through cinematic, painterly visuals. The project involves creating 26 full-color interior illustrations and a cover, all sized at 8.5” x 8.5”. The desired style is warm, emotional, and polished, with realistic character proportions and soft cinematic lighting, ensuring the artwork resonates with young readers and their families.
Responsibilities
- Create 26 full-color interior illustrations and a cover in a cinematic, painterly style suitable for children’s books
- Ensure character consistency and emotional storytelling across all artwork
- Collaborate using provided character sheets, scene descriptions, and visual references
- Deliver artwork in the specified 8.5” x 8.5” format, ready for print
- Participate in a paid test illustration as part of the selection process
- Incorporate feedback and revisions as required within agreed terms
- Confirm all artwork is original and not AI-generated
Requirements
- Proven experience illustrating children’s books or similar projects with a cinematic, realistic, and painterly style
- Strong portfolio demonstrating emotional storytelling, character consistency, and polished execution
- Proficiency in digital illustration tools and techniques suitable for print-ready artwork
- Ability to interpret and visually realize detailed briefs and references
- Excellent communication skills and responsiveness to feedback
- Commitment to delivering original, non-AI-generated artwork
- Availability to meet project timelines and revision schedules
