Role Overview

The Illinois Transportation Market Lead is a senior growth leader and enterprise integrator responsible for accelerating growth and brand recognition across transportation and infrastructure markets in Illinois and adjacent states. The role will unify Michael Baker International's Engineering, Consulting and Technology capabilities to strengthen existing client relationships, develop new partnerships, advance priority pursuits and build regional pipeline. The position does not carry direct P&L responsibility or delegated authority but plays a critical role in driving measurable regional and local growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regional Growth & Strategic Pursuits: Develop and execute regional growth plans aligned with Michael Baker International's enterprise strategy. Identify and drive key pursuits and opportunities across business verticals. Coordinate cross‑business‑line collaboration to develop new opportunities with key clients. Bring integrated Engineering, Consulting and Technology capabilities together to address client needs.
  • Client Account Leadership: Partner with business line leaders to guide, influence and implement client account management plans. Deepen executive‑level client relationships. Expand the company's footprint within priority accounts. Ensure integrated solutions leverage capabilities across the organisation.
  • Pipeline & Market Activation: Increase the volume and quality of leads and pipeline aligned with strategic growth priorities. Provide market insight and direction to local teams to strengthen early‑stage opportunity development. Act as a visible growth catalyst across local and regional markets.
  • People, Culture & Engagement: Champion unified people and culture initiatives across business lines. Reinforce a common employee experience through leadership engagement and programmes. Foster collaboration, inclusion and shared accountability for growth.
  • Government Relations & Brand Leadership: Serve as a senior ambassador for the Michael Baker International brand within regional and local markets. Develop relationships at the state and local levels to position the company as a preferred provider of integrated solutions. Manage and implement statewide and local government affairs plans. Represent Michael Baker International at strategic government meetings. Represent local offices and service lines to the Michael Baker International PAC for recommendations of support. Build and maintain relationships with clients, partners and influencers. Advise executive leadership on local and regional nonprofit and charitable engagements. Ensure consistent “One MBI” messaging and experience across regional engagements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 20 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Proven senior leadership experience with a growth, client and enterprise mindset.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to connect strategy to action.
