IHBTC Outreach Counselor
About the role
The Intensive Home-Based Therapeutic Care (IHBTC) Program is part of The Edinburg Center's Children's Mental Health Services Division. Our multidisciplinary team partners with youth and families to provide individualized, community-based support designed to help children thrive in their homes, schools, and communities.
Qualifications
- A compassionate, energetic, and team-oriented professional who enjoys working directly with youth and families in community settings.
- Experience supporting children and adolescents with emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Commitment to helping youth build skills and achieve success at home, school, and in their communities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant experience working with youth, OR an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a Human Services related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience working with youth.
- At least 21 years old.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including afternoon and evening availability.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
What You Will Do
- Provide direct one-to-one strength-based support to youth in their homes and communities.
- Coach and train youth in daily living, social, and communication skills.
- Support clinical goals that improve emotional, behavioral, and family functioning.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Clinicians, Care Coordinators, Family Partners, Occupational Therapists, and Young Adult Peer Mentors.
- Participate in treatment planning and review meetings.
- Engage in case management activities and maintain communication with providers and support systems.
- Complete required documentation and maintain compliance with program standards.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Utilize person-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches in all interactions.
