About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a civilian Simulator Pilot Instructor, GS-2181-12 at the 80th Operations Group at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a current and qualified, instrument rated, multi or single engine advanced military flight simulator and academic instructor for students enrolled in the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) program and for rated upgrade pilots enrolled in the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) Pilot Instructor Training (PIT) program.
  • Maintain and update flight logs and other documentation as required.
  • Teach and mentor students in the use of military and civilian aircraft simulators.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and emergency procedures during instruction.
  • Develop and implement training curricula tailored to the needs of ENJJPT students and upgrade pilots.
  • Assist in the evaluation and assessment of student performance.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Civilian.
  • Experience as a rated military aviator (pilot) is critical.
  • Fighter aviation experience is required.
  • Previous experience as an instructor in a military aircraft is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures, aerodynamics, flying fundamentals, aircraft instrumentation, ground and flight emergency procedures, and instrument and visual flight rules.
  • Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.
  • Skills in the use of a variety of computer applications and software, to include simulator systems.
  • Skills in demonstrating flying procedures and maneuvers in an aircraft simulator.
